I did some research and found this.a crespine was mesh made of silk, studded with jewels at the intersections of each piece of silk.the hair was parted and braided.the braids were pulled back and wrapped around each other in the form of a bun.at the nape of the neck.the crespine went over all hair and was drawn towards the back of the head and under the bun.the barbette which was a thin piece of linen was brought up under the chin and pinned at the top of the head.a circlet or fillet was placed on the head so as to come down onto the forehead. Last a pill box style hat was placed on top of the head.they were plain and a dark color.the crespine was usually colored or gold and the barbette was white.i have a picture of this but lady lattitia needs to show me how to post it.i also found a crochet cap that is made with thread that I believe could be worn like a crespine.i need to have the cap aproved by the proboard before I make it.i need help posting this also.no,sir didymous it isnt off of wicepedia.see I can't even spell it.

I have given it some thought today and decided to use a macrame knot and gold cord to make a crespine.do you think this is an idea.could 4 ply yarn be used? It would give it the look like it was made from wool.i wounder if maybe thats how they made the netting.a series of knots intertwined. Like macrame.i havent been able to find an actual picture of a serviving crespine from our time period.i would put a picture of the sample piece ive done on here but it wont let me.your opinion would be a big help.

There seems to be quite a variety in how those were made in our period and later styles developed bringing even more variety. This article may be of interest. wedcraft.com/knottyheadwear7.pdf

I took a look at your tablet that you use, and the problem you are having with posting images seems to be a software issue. You might have to use someone's lap top to post the images. Or get someone to post on your behalf.
